Australian Champions
Every two years, a national competition is held in different state and is organised and hosted by an AAMBS chorus from that state. The first national competition was held on the Gold Coast in 1991. The Blenders were placed second to Perth chorus Men in Harmony. In the years to follow, The Blenders have attended every national competition and since 1993 have won the national title.
A highlight of these national competitions was in October 2005. The Blenders hosted the competition on the Gold Coast once more. With their reputation to uphold, along with all of the extra work involved in managing the event, they were under pressure to perform. Added to this was the fact that no chorus who had hosted the event had ever won it. The Blenders were more determined than ever, and with the chorus ranks swelling to 93 this was a huge ask.
However the Blenders lived up to their motto of hard work, dedication and professionalism. They not only won the competition (judged by six international judges) but achieved the highest score ever awarded to an Australian chorus.

More recently in September 2007 the Blenders travelled to Sydney to defend their title as national champions. They were also delighted to accept an invitation by the organising chorus ‘Sydney Harmony’ and AAMBS to showcase the association at the massed sing - a regular event held at every national competition where all of the competing choruses and quartets gather to sing a selection of well known songs to entertain passers by.
With the fun stuff out of the way, the Blenders got down to the serious business of competition – pitting their skills against other choruses from around the country and were once again pleased to come away as national champions.
